I live in Dundee, Scotland with my housemate, another PhD student. We live in a “maisonette”, which sounds fancy but is just the top two floors of the building below:
I do a lot of running and cycling, and I really enjoy going out into the Scottish countryside. In my free time I like cooking, especially baking cake, and I also read a lot and listen to lots of podcasts. It’s difficult to socialise with friends right now, but I really enjoy playing Dungeons and Dragons with my friends online.
I grew up in Felixstowe, a seaside town in Suffolk (north-east of London). My parents keep chickens.
-
My Typical Day:
Some days I stay at home to read about other scientists work so that I know what’s already been done. Other days I go into the lab to get human cells (sometimes I grow them, sometimes I get them from real blood), and then expose them to germs to see how they react. Other days I spend my time on the computer trying to understand what happened in my own experiments!
