Humans have evolved over time! This means that we all started out as something else and over time, we have adapted to become the species we are now! Those adaptations are what we need to survive – often because of our environment!

Unfortunately, I’m not an evolutionary biologist – so can’t go into much detail.

We evolved from an ape-like ancestor, like chimpanzees and gorillas, with small changes taking place over millions of years.

The oldest know fossil of a human ancestor is about 3.8 million years old, and was found in the Afar region of Ethiopia in 2009, over 1 million years older than “Lucy”
