      A good question with several answers….. The tallest volcano is Mauna Kea and the largest (volume) is Mauna Loa (both on Hawaii). From the seafloor to the summit, Mauna Kea it is taller than Everest. The biggest eruption we can find in the geological record happened in the USA about 27 million years ago. Even though there has been lots of erosion, and we can’t see everything that erupted, what is left would cover the whole UK with a layer 20m thick.
