I live in Menai Bridge, North Wales and have just started my MSc in Applied Marine Geoscience this September. Previously I studied Geological Oceanography at Bangor University.
Living in North Wales is fantastic; I am a keen diver and I also enjoy exploring the beautiful mountains of Snowdonia. My other hobbies include music, as I have been playing guitar for over 10 years, and I also enjoy helping out on the family farm on the Llyn Peninsula when I go home.

The main focus of both my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees is to look at the interaction between the land and the sea. We do this through various survey methods, on land and at sea. These methods include:
- Bathymetric Surveys
- Seismic Surveys
- Core Analysis
- LIDAR data analysis
-
My Typical Day:
I can be found at sea on the University’s Research Vessel, the Prince Madog, or conducting land based surveys.

I typically analyse a lot of data, this is data collected at sea or on land. The data analysis methods are essential in order to understand what goes on at the site of interest. From this, we can estimate how the area will behave over time, and what we can do to manage it.

What I'd do with the prize money:
I would use the prize money to invest in scientific equipment; this would allow me to conduct more demonstrations, virtually and in schools.
